Stonehenge and Bath!

Hi all!

So I had a very exciting weekend when Megan and I went to Stonehenge and the Roman Baths on Saturday! We took a day trip through Anderson Tours and I was very impressed with the company. We traveled to the country side, where Stonehenge is located in the middle of a vast field. Sheep surround the ancient landmark which I found hilarious. The site was beautiful and it was a sunny day which is sometimes rare here! The wind was crazy though and it was nearly blowing us over (so much for doing my hair lol!)

After Stonehenge we traveled to the city of Bath, which is quaint and adorable. I passed a flat that Johnny Depp owns and that was pretty awesome! We then went to the museum and I was able to see the Roman baths which were huge! The water was a greenish color and very warm too (I wasn't supposed to touch it, oops!) After seeing that incredible museum, we went to go grab some lunch at this restaurant called "The Roman Bath Kitchen" which was amazing!!

We weren't able to shop that much in Bath and I definitely want to go back and visit again! Last night me and the girls went to a club called "Proud" and it was fun! We were all so tired though from our busy weekend so I was nearly falling asleep at one point! Then this morning I made homemade pancakes for the girls! I didn't have any measuring tools so I kind of just winged it and they came out great! That's what I get for making pancakes for about six years!

Overall this weekend was amazing and it has been incredible to have these type of experiences. We are all dreading tomorrow but looking forward to next weekend!

Cheers,

xoxo

Livin the London Life!

Hi everyone!

It's been a little while since I've last posted, sorry about that its been crazy as always. On Monday I started my internship (or work placement as they call it here) and it was great! It's a cute little office in Soho (yes they have on here as well!) and I was assigned to read two scripts and write a coverage about them. These scripts were long, about 150 pages each so it took me a while! They were both very interesting, one based in Brazil, and the other based in London. I have my internship again tomorrow, wish me luck!
Me on my first day! ^^

This Saturday Megan, my roommate, and I are taking a day trip to Bath and to see Stonehedge! We were not able to go on the group trip that is run by the London Center like the rest of our flatmmates, but we will still go just for the day! I am so excited to see it.

Ryan is officially coming to London during his spring break! Yay! We are planning to go on The Eye, as well as go to the London aquarium and do the "Jack the Ripper" walking tour! I am currently doing research on hostels for me and the girls spring break and I'm finding some good options!

I am doing very well and I have adjusted very quickly to London. The only thing I don't really like is the lack of customer service here. The people are very SLOW and don't really engage with the customers, which is so weird since I work at Tj Maxx and if I don't interact with customers then I feel entirely rude! Besides that, everything is wonderful and I am so lucky to have this experience!

This was the second week of classes and it is going well! I am officially taking Art in London, Irish Literature, and I just switched into Music in London today!

Saturday the girls and I obviously want to go out, and we are looking at a club called "Strawberry Moon" it looks cool! This past Saturday we went to "Zoo bar and club" and I was able to get us in free on the guest list and got us a free mojito! Yum!
Me and the girls before going to "Zoo Bar"

Then on Sunday morning we did a walk with Bill(the head of the London Center) and went to all the local markets! We went to a huge food market and I was in heaven! I got honey chicken and this amazing cupcake from "Ninas Bake"! It was strawberry and had glitter on it too:) Very delicious!! But nothing like grammies goodies! We also went to a flower market and it was beautiful! Meg and I got three pots of flowers for our room and they are so pretty.

Below are pictures from the market this weekend as well as other random pictures I haven't put up yet!

 My delicious cupcake!^^

 Swan at Hyde Park!^^

 My bed! ^^

I will post pictures of Stonehedge and Bath this weekend so you can all see!

Do I Ever Have to Leave??

Hi everyone!

Wow its been a crazy couple of days, that's for sure! I am loving London life and trying to get the "OMG" look off my face! We have been exploring London via the Tube which is a underground subway public transportation service. It is a little stressful figuring out which lines you need to ride and such but overall it's a wonderful way to get around!

"Big Ben"

Yesterday (the 11th) was my 20th birthday and it was a blast! All of my flatmates and some other girls here went out to a club called "The Electric Ballroom" and it was awesome. The club was very large and had two floors of different kinds of music! I didn't know a few of the songs but I am sure I will learn about British music during my stay!

Birthday with the ladies!

Today (the 12th) we moved into our flat in Tigress House on Edgewar Road, which is centrally located and has a lot of necessary stores close by! (including Primark which is a high class Walmart, and Boots which is similar to a CVS) Our flat is huge, it has 3 bedrooms and 3 baths which is a good thing when you are living with five other girls! I have the smallest room, with my roommate Megan but it works out well because it is also the warmest (these old buildings are drafty!) I will post pictures of the flat sometime this week!

It has definitely been an eventful couple of days and I am ready to use my new Themprapeutic like pillow and call it a day! Classes start tomorrow, but I don't have class until Tuesday! I have a meeting tomorrow at noon with my internship coordinator Bevan to discuss my internship placement (I believe I am working for SC Films International, a film production company!)

I will continue to add to this list, but here is the start of the different words that Brits use:

1.) Elevators are called "Lifts"
2.) Going to the movies is "going to the cinema"
3.) If you are at a restaurant and want a "to go" box, it is called a "take away"
4.) "Exit" signs in the UK is "Way Out"

Well, ta ta for now!

Love and miss you all,

K

Hurry up and Wait!

My flight from Syracuse to JFK was delayed a little, the good old saying "hurry up and wait" applies to this situation! I feel like such an adult, being in the airport alone and my sweaty palms can prove it!! The plane will be here any minute and I will be another step closer to getting to London! Yay!

My beautiful aunts and grandma wished me off, with presents and love:)! Saying goodbye to them and especially my mom was hard, but knowing they totally support me is reassuring!

Love you all and wish me luck in JFK!
